A website keeps costing money after launch

Most price comparisons only look at the build. But a website costs money for as long as it is online: hosting, domain name, SSL, updates, backups and small changes. If you only look at the build price, you will be surprised later.

The amounts below are a rough indication of what you will find in the Netherlands. Your situation may differ, so always ask what comes on top after the build.

DIY builder: roughly €10 to €40 per month

A website builder costs little, but you do everything yourself: design, copy, photos, findability and updates. Expect many evenings of work.

Freelancer or theme: roughly €500 to €2,500

A site based on an existing theme, paid once. Hosting, maintenance and changes often come on top afterwards.

Custom agency: roughly €2,500 to €10,000 or more

Fully custom design and copy. A great result, but a big investment upfront, and maintenance is often billed separately too.

After launch: roughly €10 to €50 per month

Hosting, domain name, SSL, updates and backups. Often left out of the quote, but you pay it for as long as your site exists.

    Ask about hosting, maintenance, updates and changes per month or per year. Add it up over three years to compare fairly.

    Who owns the domain?

    Your domain name should be in your name. If it is in the builder's name, you are stuck when you want to switch.

    What if I want to stop?

    Ask how you can leave and what you take with you. With us everything can be cancelled monthly after the term, and you can take over the site for 3 monthly fees, with code and content.

What does a website cost at OneStone?

Website Complete: €49 per month, excluding VAT. Fixed contract of 24 months with no setup fee, for businesses registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce.

Prefer to cancel monthly, or are you a private person? Flexible is €63.70 per month excluding VAT, with no build costs upfront. If you cancel within 24 months, you pay a decreasing part of the build costs: one 24th less every month.

After the term everything can be cancelled monthly, and Website Complete moves to €29 per month for hosting, domain and maintenance.

Why a monthly fee instead of a one off price?

Because a website needs care after the build too: hosting, updates, security and changes. With us that is all in one fee, without a big bill upfront.

Are there hidden costs?

No. What is in your package is in the agreement you see beforehand. More than 8 pages, an extra language or custom work costs extra, at a fixed price you know in advance.

Do you build websites in English?

Yes. We build in Dutch and English. A second language version is extra work at a fixed price you know in advance.

Who owns the website and the domain?

Your domain name is always in your name. After the term everything can be cancelled monthly, and you can take over the website for 3 monthly fees, with code and content.

Do I have to pay anything upfront?

No. The preview is free and without obligation. Only if you want to continue do you choose a package online with a fixed monthly fee.
